Welcome!!

I started this blog as a place to put the "mommy stuff" that just doesn't fit over on my other blog.

I became a first time mom at the age of 43 so this blog is written from *gasp* an older mom's perspective.

I love being a mom to the funniest little girl on the planet (check out the scroll over to the right ---> for some of her gems!) and I hope you enjoy reading about our adventures together!

To Meme or not to Meme...

So one of the things I have been trying to figure out is whether participating in all or even some of the cool memes out there is really something I want to do. Over at Everyday Bliss I have chosen to keep my memery (how's that for making up a word?) down to an occasional toe bath, but I do occasionally feel left out. Today is a Friday so I know it is Friday Fragment AND Friday Follow day from some of the other blogs I read. I'm even thinking of making a new feature on this blog ("Then and Now"to be debuted next Thursday) into a meme. I guess that cinches it! I will play along with a meme or two!

As I type this, sitting here with NO followers a Friday Follow seems like a possible idea but then again I don't want anyone following me just to get a follow in return. I want you to be here because you like what I have to say not because I clicked a button over on your site. I can't read EVERY blog I run into and if I follow you I will want to, or make that I will feel like I "should." Not that anyone will be checking but who needs any more should in their life?

OK so I've decided. I'm going to do the Friday Fragment meme. I always have a bunch of random thoughts that can't seem to make their way into a "real post" and this will give me a place to do it. It is a terrific idea brought to us byMrs. 4444  over at her blog Half Past Kissin' Time - do stop by to peruse some other fun fragments. I have been a stickler for running a very tight ship over on Everyday Bliss (keeping "on topic") but this blog is about being a mommy and flexibility (like how I threw in one of my Great Parenting Virtues?!) is required! So here goes!!

Mommy's Idea

Hello Blog world! I have a new blog over here!! It is called Everyday Mommy and I think you will find it a lot of fun. If you ever get bored with what I am saying you can always just hang back and read the scroll of "Stuff The Girl Says." She is always a riot so even if I get all preachy and/or try to learn something Sweets promises to always entertain!

Oh yeah, I'm calling her "Sweets" over here instead of using her real name. My Sweetie, yep that one isn't his real name either, works for that big search engine company as an engineer and is always preaching the demon side of internet life. I don't know if I can ever get that paranoid myself but in homage to his feelings, yes I am a nice wife, I will keep our Girl's electronic footprint as small as possible while I publicly humiliate her. OK, that isn't my intention but I am her mom and one day she will be a teenager after all...

Oh I should probably share a photo of us.

Here we are on a recent trip to visit the mouse. Yep we're a cute family, but mostly this will be about the cute girl. If you want more about the Sweetie you can always head over to Everyday Bliss where I am struggling to write him a Love Letter.

Here is one of my all time favorite pictures of "The Girl" (we actually call her that in real life so perhaps that isn't pseudonym enough...)

Thanks to my friend Kristen for catching this shot. The Girl's entire personality is perfectly depicted here! Yeah, the Sweetie doesn't have a chance, his girl is destined to make her digital mark one day....

As you can tell by the scroll at the top of this blog, Sweets says a lot of great stuff. When I share those things in the blog I'll make them blue "But I like Pink" (my blog I get to pick) so you don't confuse them with what I say. Most of the time it will be pretty clear however because at three she is already smarter then I'll ever be and most of the best parenting lessons will be coming from her!

I guess that sums it up for now. I feel better already knowing Friday Fragments will be happening over here...of course I may do mine on Saturday or some other day... does that mean it isn't a meme any more... yikes blog number two and still a ton to learn about blogging...

Here are the other Friday Followers playing this week... do join us or hop on over and vist a few more fragments!

  8. Good idea Sarah! I think I'll write a post or two about it soon! Generally I am nothing but thrilled for waiting... I may not get as much time with grandkids in the long run but my girl definitely gets a much more grounded and patient mommy!

  9. Hi Kathy!! I found my way over here from Everyday Bliss. I like what you've got going here! Meme's are fine. I've got a couple of my own. Good luck and much success with your new blog. Let me know how you balance out both blogs. I'm still struggling to find time to update my cooking blog!

  11. I had trouble with the decision at first too (I Love the word memery by the way) but I decided to do them because I met so many great friends through them. Friday's are the worst because 4 or 5 of my favourites are on Fridays (Friday Fragments, Flashback Friday and some photo ones.) Usually I try to do two in the morning, and one or two in the evening, I rarely do all the photo ones each week, I just alternate them. Other than that, I usually only participate in the Random Dozen on Wednesdays and leave my blog for my stuff the other days...

  12. I Followed, because of this: "I don't want anyone following me just to get a follow in return. I want you to be here because you like what I have to say not because I clicked a button over on your site. " I feel 100% the same. Just being honest.

The photo of The Girl in the tutu and cowboy hat reminds me of one I have of my son (age 2 at the time) in nothing but a cowboy hat, silk scarf, and heels. It's priceless. Might have to dig that one up again :)

  14. I have definitely decided I don't want to get super strict about the things I try over here. I started this blog because I wanted a place for my mommy musing of all kinds... I will however keep the memery (glad you like it) down to a couple a week so I do do my own things too!
