Welcome!!

I started this blog as a place to put the "mommy stuff" that just doesn't fit over on my other blog.

I became a first time mom at the age of 43 so this blog is written from *gasp* an older mom's perspective.

I love being a mom to the funniest little girl on the planet (check out the scroll over to the right ---> for some of her gems!) and I hope you enjoy reading about our adventures together!

I'm a Flower Power Mom and other Friendly Fragmenty stuff!

Humility - the quality or condition of being Humble; imitate Jesus or Socrates

Someone recently asked me "So just how 'late to the game of parenting' are you?" and I had to laugh. I guess statistically speaking I am "pretty late" since I was 44 when The Girl was born  and now at 47 when many of my friends are getting ready to send their kids off to college I have just chosen a preschool for my now three year old.

I bring all this up today because I was recently interviewed by "Flower Power Mom" an advocacy organization for over 40 moms, and the article appeared in that blog this week. Go here if you would like to read it. It is also a terrific topic for Humility week because nothing humbles a person more then being entrusted to care for a little tiny baby.  Being a fly by the seat of my pants gal for most of my life, I knew being a mommy would change me but I really didn't realize how much.

Over at Everyday Bliss I just wrote a post about Intellectual Humility. The bottom line in that post is by thinking I KNOW something I leave little room to learn something new. Isn't that a perfect lesson for every parent? It is so easy to think we know what is best just because we are bigger then our kids, and often that may be true but sometimes if we listen carefully our little ones can be pretty wise.

Mommy's Idea

It is Friday so it is time for some Friday Fragments! What a great way to get all the clutter out of my head! Brought to us by Mrs. 4444 over at Half-Past Kissin' Time - do stop on over to check out some other fun fragmenty stuff!

Yesterday my bloggy friend and now real life friend (read all about our blind date here!), M. of we bloom here and I took our kids to Happy Hallow which is a sweet amusement and animal park near my home. I was not clever enough to bring a camera but thankfully M. did the job for me. Here is The Girl happily atop a Lemur on the carousel.

I really must get my personal camera issues handled. About six moths ago I upgraded my computer hard drive but ever since all my photo software is located in a different drive that is "sort of" connected to this one... (talk to my techie hubby) and while I can see the pictures, all my usual cataloging and editing stuff doesn't work the same as before which makes it hard for me.  I know if I sit down sometime and set everything up again I'll be good as gold... but who has time for that?!!  So anyway, since the upgrade I have been reluctant to download any more photos and I have been juggling full data cards and it is just a confusing mess so I end up not bringing my camera far more then any mother should admit.

Whew, thanks guys. That was good to get off my chest!

Speaking of getting things off my chest... did anyone notice that yesterday's Wordless Wednesday post was ALSO a giveaway? OK so I guess I sort of snuck that in... the real giveaway is happening over on the other blog but I decided I would include you all in it too! All that is required is for you to share something you are grateful for in the Linky in yesterday's post and then you are entered in the drawing for this lovely Baccarat Heart pendant:

If you want full details about additional entries and to find out how you can also win a pig (Yep you read that right!) just hop on over to GIVEAWAY central on Everyday Bliss!

I do hope you'll come back tomorrow for THEN and NOW where I tell a little tale about how  getting MY WAY back THEN is a lot less fun then NOT having my way NOW.

When I decided to start this blog a piece of me was a little sad that I hadn't begun when Sweets was first born. I started to think about how things were when she was first born and how things compared with now and I found the whole thing a bit melancholy and sweet. Moms LOVE to talk about how things were "back then." Heck, I don't know about you, but even three years later, put me in a group of moms I haven't previously met and we'll all be talking about our birth stories within minutes!

The THEN and NOW meme is designed to give us a reason to remember and chronicle our favorite stories. Pick a favorite THEN and compare, contrast or just wax philosophically about the differences between THEN and NOW. I would love it if you joined in on the fun!

Oh and one more thing. I just found out about these friendly little blog hops, called Friendly Friday and Friendly Friday Follow, not too coincidentally so I thought I'd jump on in and try them!

  2. Your feature post was really nice (I left a comment :)
Hm. That's interesting--your post goes from narrow to WIDE. Not sure how that happened. Was it intentional?? Wait a second...and now, I see the second half of your post TWICE. Something goofy is going on...
I'd like to join your meme, but I'm trying to scale back my computer time and am not posting at all until Monday--just feeling overwhelmed, I guess. Maybe some time in the future...
Off to enter your giveaway :)
