Topic of the week
Discipline
The ability to follow direction and the courage to do what is right.
Whew! This was a long week! As I mentioned on Friday it felt like The Girl has been testing me at every turn. Yesterday I met another mom to a three year old at our health club pool and she was saying that three in her house means never responding the same way twice. I had to laugh because that is exactly my issue with Sweets. One time she'll melt down if I cut her piece of cheese and another day she'll be very angry when I didn't cut her piece of cheese. There really is little way to predict what the outcome will be.
Ok that isn't entirely true. If she is well rested and has eaten recently she is more likely to respond well to anything that I might throw at her... cut or uncut cheese!
Once again I want to say thank you to Mrs. 4444 and Liz of Eternal Lizdom who added some great resources to my Discipline Linky (which has been in my sidebar all week) because I clearly need them! If you also have a good post about discipline I would be so happy if you added it to the collection. This resource linky will become part of a permanent Library over here (Look for a Library page coming in the near future!) so this is an excellent way to re-purpose some of your old favorite posts. Next week's parenting topic is CREATIVITY so please get ready with your creative contributions.
This morning when I sat down to read my email I found out that I am the recipient of a blog award! Over at my other blog I didn't get one until my 300th post but here with less then 50 it has already happened!! As I stated when I won that other award I said:
To be perfectly frank I've been a little bit on the fence about how I feel about the whole award thing but I figured I would just wait until I got one to figure it out. Then months and months passed and it never happened. You know that joke about not wanting to be a member of any club that wanted you... I was sort of in that place! You know, deflecting the fact that while I thought the whole "award" thingy could get in the way of so called "serious blogging" I was a little sad that no one thought my blog was worthy.
My bloggy friend Mrs. 4444 has a unique way of dealing with the awards, she requires a Stupid human trick by the person extending the award before she will accept one. I can never nominate her because my super human tongue trick has already been done. She requires no repeats as well... All this is my contrarian way of saying that I will happily accept awards but I have decided to award them in this way: Anytime I win an award I will follow the "rules" in this way, I will do the little game (write 20,000 things about me, answer an odd question what ever the award asks for (re-cycling is always permitted!) but I will re-gift the award to my latest followers. I really think this will be a nice way to get to know my newest followers and I, being the all inclusive gal that I am, feel everyone and anyone who wants to play in addition to the ones nominated is welcome to do so!
This is most unexpected and I want you to know I totally appreciate you thinking of me even if I can't bring myself to follow the rules entirely.
This award asks for 7 things about me. I've recently shared 8 here and 8 on my other blog so I've decided to bring back that linky! I'm going to add Stephanie to the Linky (as a thank you for picking me) and I invite all of my honorees to go ahead and link up their lists too! If you haven't been awarded, I give you permission to play along and link up here if you wish also. Only links with lists of new/interesting information about you should be included. (Posts about that great new cake recipe or your most recent giveaway will be deleted!)
My Official honorees are:
(Please note if I could not find your blog in your blogger profile I was not able to list you. If you think you should be in this list you might want to check that out -- and please feel free to play along even if I foolishly left you out!!)
Ok then! Please go ahead and link up with things we don't know about each other... as you can see I'm a big proponent of recycling so if you do link up it is more then likely that I will re-post this again so your post will get double the exposure -- who knows maybe someday a lot of people will read my blog and you will really have some exposure... ah one can dream! In any case I really do look forward to learning more about you if you would like to play along!

My Thirteen Virtues of Great Parenting are:
Fun, Discipline, Creativity, Love, Wonder, Listening, Curiosity,Compassion,
Trust, Acceptance, Empowerment, Humility and Flexibility
This week is all about Discipline. Next week 's topic is Creativity
Wow I am so lucky to still be in the "newest" followers club when you got this award! I love the discipline stuff, I don't have a post just some humble advice. We are in the home stretch of the last of 8 children, and the ONE thing I know for sure when it comes to discipline is not WHAT you do but the speed with which you react to the behavior you want to correct. The quicker your reaction the easier it is for your child to fully understand which behavior it is you disapprove of and the behavior that will be corrected the fastest.
ReplyDeleteI am honored to be an honoree! Thanks for the award.
